Until Further Notice...

So I'm not doing the usual craft post today, really I'm not doing much of any post today. I just wanted to say that at long last I have ordered a camera so I will be posting all sorts of exciting things...once it gets here. You see, I'm very much over trying to get decent pictures with my camera phone so until the nice UPS man gets here I'm taking a little bloggy break. But I promise I'll be back soon with all sorts of wonderful posts. I have big plans...just not any pictures. A hint of what's waiting in the wings? Well, lots of knitting of course, some delicious new recipes to share, a giveaway, some hopefully helpful homemaking ideas, a tutorial or two, and of course lots of ramblings about our every day life.

Until next time!

100th Post!!

It seems that despite being a slacker blogger I have reached my 100th post!! In honor of that I wanted to share my first knitting pattern! This is a very simple little pattern for toddler sized fingerless gloves. I would say they would fit from about age 2-6, but it would be easy to add or subtract stitches (in multiples of 2) if your child has skinny or extra pudgy hands. ;) If you have any questions about any techniques used in the pattern feel free to ask questions!

You will need:
a set of 4 size 2 dpn's
a set of 4 size 3 dpn's
a stitch marker
A small amount of light worsted weight yarn (I knit this in Cascade 220 Superwash, which is almost a dk weight really)

Quick Fingerless Gloves for Toddlers

With size 3's CO 10 sts onto each of three needles, join for working in the round being careful not to twist stitches! Place marker for beginning of round. (30 sts total)

Rows 1-7: Work in k1p1 ribbing

Row 8: k all sts

Row 9: (increase row) *k2, k1fb- repeat from * to end of row (40 sts total)

Row 10-20: k all sts (this should be about 2" from CO edge)

Row 21: BO 5 sts loosely at begging of row, k to end of row (35 sts total)

Row 22: CO 5 sts with backwards loop method, k to end of row--make sure to replace marker once the sts are back on! (40 sts total)

Row 23-26: k all sts

Row 27-30: switch to size 2 dpn's and work in k1p1 ribbing

BO all sts loosely in pattern (I like to use a size 4 needle for the bind off), weave in ends and add any desired embellishment. Present to an adorable toddler!

(I'm happy to offer this pattern for free, but please do not reproduce this pattern or sell items made from this pattern without first talking to me!)

July 14

Hello! I just wanted to pop on here to say that I haven't given up this space, I'm just enjoying a bit of a summer break. I will be back here soon with lots to say and share (there's been some major knitting/crocheting/sewing happening here), and if all goes to plan (hahahahaha!) a give away is in the works. Okay, back to the house work. :)

Technical Difficulties

Hi- I know I'm supposed to be posting, but due to some strange technical difficulties, my camera will not upload pictures for me...... so I need to have Joe look at it and make it work for me. :) Sounds easy enough, but of the last 8 days, he's only been home before 9 twice, and I haven't wanted to pester him with it that late. So...either tonight or tomorrow you will have some good picture-filled posts!

A bit of brainstorming

So, with this being my main blog now, first let me say welcome!! I'm super excited to "set up shop" here. I have some fun things in the works, so do please keep an eye out!

I'm working on building some structure in our days right
now...nothing super rigid or "busy", but just some nice, solid routines and rhythms. I have always done really well when I have the good foundation of routines, so I'm wanting to lay a few down for my blog as well. It's nice for you readers, because you can look forward to certain things on certain days, and it's nice for me, because it takes some of the creative guess work out of posting. Please remember that this is a work in progress, so I will most likely change this up a bit at some point; but for now, here's what I'm thinking....

Sunday~ Quotable Sunday -I've noticed several blogs doing some version of "quotable Sunday", whether it's a Bible verse, or just an inspirational quote, so I'd like to try that.

Monday~ Monday is my cleaning day, so I'm thinking of doing a "corners of my home" series, where I can share nice spots of my home, once they're nice and clean :D

Tuesday~ General blogging

Wednesday~ W-I-P Wednesday -A day to show off any of my current works in progress

Thursday~ General blogging

Friday~ Gratitude Friday -Like last Friday, just a day to quiet
down and be grateful

Saturday~ General blogging

Okay? Thoughts? I think it will be fun. :) I really must chug t
he rest of my coffee and get going now, but I wanted to start with this post today. So please let me know what you think! I will leave you with Miss Jenny's new hat (mittens are in the works!).

I used This free pattern (pdf link), and the wool is from See Jayne Knit. It went really fast, you just knit a rectangle, sew it up the sides and *viola* you have a hat. :) I learned a New Way (go down to "Finishing" and look at the mattress stitch) of sewing up my seams that looks So Much Better, and I am really super excited about it!

on my Mom and Dad's porch...we just got out of the car, so you can't really see Anthony's belt...

A Fresh Start

I would like to start by saying that I am writing this while wearing not only socks, but a sweatshirt! And my fingers are still cold! Yes, fall is finally here. :) I am so excited to start our new schedule and routines on Monday! I know that we wont hit 100% the first day, or maybe even the first week, but I am excited to have a goal to be working toward. :) My big goal is to make sure that my bedtime is firmly in place so that *hopefully* by the end of the week I'll be getting up at 5:30, and getting some coffee/prayer/quiet time before the day starts! I know it sounds super early, and it might be pushed back to 6:00, but Anthony is up by 6:30 most days, so in order to beat him out of bed I have to really get up early... I am hoping to have lights out by about 9:30 though, so that is still a good night's sleep. Well, there will be more to come on all of our schedules later, tonight I just wanted to share some recent finished projects. :) Oh, and also, please notice that I added the subscription option over in the right hand side bar, as well as a "search" feature. I hope that makes your blog reading a bit easier!

This is just a little pocket-sized heart. The pattern is available Here, if any of you would like to knit one. I simply love it! This one is for a friend of mine, for those days when you just need something small to hold. I think we all know those days sometimes. (Raveled HERE)

This is a flannel blanket I made for my sister-in-law Heather, who's baby shower I hosted this afternoon. It is two sides of flannel, with a satin binding. (I hope to make a tutorial for these soon, they are just the best blankets, and are SO super easy!) I also made a matching boppy (nursing pillow) cover, out of the ladybug flannel, with red piping, but I didn't get a very good picture of that.

This little love is my gift for my soon-to-arrive niece, Noelle. I had so much fun knitting him (he is my first knit toy!) and I think he turned out rather well. The variegated yarn is a lovely wool, and the pink arms and head are an acrylic/bamboo blend. He feels SO good to squeeze!

A close up of the face. I embroidered the face in the same yarn I used for his bow; it's Debbie Bliss baby alpaca in a lovely cranberry color. :) For the eyes I just used brown felt.
(Raveled HERE but you do have to have a Ravelry account to see it)

Long Time, No Blog!

Wow, so I'm way behind. :) My laptop is having some technical dificulties, so I'm currently sharing Joe's....however I can't figure out how to upload my pictures until he gets home. :( All of this rambling to say that I will be back by the end of the week to share my month of July with all of you! August will bring with it a nice new "back to school" schedule, and with that, regular computer time with plans for lots of blogging. This week therefor is somewhat crazy. :) Anyway, check back later this week!

Love,
Tilly

A Change of Pace

I am planning on using this blog for my homemaking blog. Where I will share my struggles and successes, my goals and my achievements, along with all of my many forms of crafty goodness! Tilly's Tea will remain a family journal type of blog, with frequent updates on the babies and life in general. I hope you enjoy!
